Ramee is a young girl with big dreams. Having already been crowned Miss India Scotland 2012, this gal is ready to take on the music scene now! Ramee has been signed to Tiffin Beats Records; She is in the company of Mumzy Stranger, Tasha Tah, Junai Kaden, and Char Avell. With her camp behind her, Ramee makes her debut with the release of "Peengh."
Before diving into the subject of music, Ramee wants the world to know that she is the niece of Bhangra legend Malkit Singh, making her slightly entitled to the respect of Bhangra heads.
Ramee has been traveling with her camp performing her song, for those familiar with the tune, the official release has them all excited. The song has been produced by Mumzy Stranger and written by Ramee's father. Mumzy describes the record as, "Chopped up Hip Hop Bhangra with synth RnB chords." Mumzy's reference to RnB is the addition of Char Avell on the track.
The camp describes the song as a "song (that) takes you dreamily into an unashamedly clichéd Bollywood scene of a Punjabi girl on a tree swing, her long plait swinging with her and her Salwar Kameez billowing in the wind. As she swings she dreams of being swept away by a handsome suitor and hey presto there he stands before her and as their gazes meet she loses all control and falls off the swing. Of course in the real world the video of the song is nothing like this and depicts Glaswegian born Ramee singing and dancing at her old school with her real old school friends and not a swing in sight!"
Eighteen years young, Ramee has already dropped a debut album, performed with her brother, and is claiming to be a professional dancer. When we spotted her at desiFEST, she looked quite inexperienced as she lip-synched her song and carried one dance move throughout her whole performance.
With time Ramee will get grips on a good stage performance, but for now fans get to join her on her journey with the release of "Peengh" June 28.
