Vidur Kapur, comedian and trailblazer
You can catch Vidur on the comedy circuit through out the US and currently on MTV Logo's NewNowNext Awards show.

Vidur Kapur, comedian and trailblazer

He's been showcased on NBC's Last Comic Standing and appeared as one of the headliners in the National "Gurus of Comedy" tour - but these are just two of the many achievements Vidur Kapur has had in his relatively young career.

Currently, he is in the running for an award as favorite comic on MTV LOGO's 2008 NewNowNext Awards show. This is quite an undertaking he has managed since MTV's LOGO TV is the premier network in the US for the gay & lesbian community. Its quite a big deal for an Indian comedian to be featured in such a manner, but a whole other angle comes into play when a Gay Indian comedian gets this type of recognition.

Vidur is accustomed to people being taken aback once his homosexuality comes into the picture, but he has used this to his full advantage by being charming and appealing to the mainstream American community. He uses his personal and public life experiences being an Indian guy who happens to be openly gay in his humor, which cuts right through many stereotypes and breaks the barrier for entertainers like himself to become accepted by all communities.

He has used his natural ability to reach mass audiences in numerous large-scale platforms such as the world famous "Just for Laughs" Comedy Festival in Montreal and his stand up comedy has been the subject of a short film called "Laughing Out Loud A Comic Journey" by director Shalini Kantayya, which was featured in Steven Spielberg's "On The Lot" show on FOX television last year. The film was voted as a favorite by Michael Bay, Director of blockbusters like Transformers. He has also co-starred with Margaret Cho and fellow NBC's Last Comic Standing alum (and finalist) Michele Balan in MTV LOGO's "Outlaugh Festival on Wisecrack."

How does a good ol' Indian boy end up in New York and become a popular gay comedy act? It might be the charm associated with being a "one-man culture clash," as many have called him, but we have a feeling it might be related more to his talent and ability to make an uncomfortable subject for some, easy to appreciate through laughter and a great personality. Like it or not, he has become one of the many ambassadors of today's Indian talent in Hollywood.
