After winning the hearts of people in major parts of the world, Yash Chopra's Love Legend, VEER-ZAARA casts its magical spell all over Europe. After very positive reactions from the German media at the 55th Berlinale Film Festival last year Veer-Zaara was released to the German public in the German language to unprecedented response. The music of Veer-Zaara and the DVDs of Veer-Zaara are the highest selling titles in Germany for a foreign film.

Veer-Zaara now achieves yet another landmark as this timeless love legend weaves its magic towards France.

Veer-Zaara was premiered on 26th April 2006 at The Grand Rex, the biggest cinema in Paris. With a seating capacity of 2,800, The Grand Rex has projected films for more than one million spectators for over half a century. Veer-Zaara is the first Hindi film to ever premiere at this prestigious venue and indeed in France. This premiere was the launch of a Bollywood week at the theatre.

The premiere was very well attended by the crème de la crème of Paris society and French media. From India the stars of the film Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta and Rani Mukerji joined the Producer & Director Yash Chopra to grace this occasion. This was the commencement of a special Bollywood week in which major films from India are being screened for the French viewers. These films include Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Mohabbatein, Kabhi Kabhie, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Dhoom, Swades, Lagaan, Bhoot, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Dil To Pagal Hai, Sholay and Black. Most of these films will then be released across France, theatrically.

Once again Yash Chopra plays a pioneering role in taking Indian cinema around the globe ? films produced by Yash Raj Films, films distributed by Yash Raj Films as well as films of other celebrated makers. The three stars of Veer-Zaara, Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta and Rani Mukerji also visited the Virgin Mega Store to meet their fans (a turn out of over 5000 fans from all nationalities, resulting in having to close the store down to accommodate the numbers) and the French media and also participated in autographing the Veer-Zaara CDs and selected DVDs of their respective films.

The excitement created in Paris on this occasion has been unprecedented.

This event once again reiterates the love for Indian films the world over and the preponderance of Yash Raj Films in the Indian cultural landscape.
