A huge dose of comedy, emotion and drama is what Munnabhai MBBS is in a nut shell. The dada Munnabhai [Sanjay Dutt], who likes to think of himself as a social worker, getting money matters solved between people. His father on the other hand, Hari Prasad Sharma [Sunil Dutt], is a straitlaced man, who believes his son is actually a doctor. Munna too keeps the pretense every year when his parents come to see him. He wears white coats and stethoscopes and pretends to be a doctor.
But his father learns the truth when he meets his friend Dr. Asthana [Boman Irani], whose daughter Suman [Gracy Singh] is a doctor too. They decide to get their kids married and therefore Munna's lie is discovered. Hari Prasad Sharma is a broken man, which drives Munna to vow to become an actual doctor.
The film is loosely based on Patch Adams but the enchanting screenplay, incredible performances and comedy make this film a must watch. Director Rajkumar Hirani delivers the goods well. Comic scenes between Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi are too good. Sanjay Dutt has given a brilliant performance and carries the film on his shoulders till the end. Sunil Dutt was wonderful after the hiatus. Boman Irani is amazing too. Gracy Singh is ok. Arshad Warsi is excellent and compliments Sanjay all the while. So go for it.
