Check out the latest happenings...

Aruna Irani

STAR Plus is soon to launch a brand new serial with well-loved Bollywood actress turned filmmaker, Aruna Irani. The cast and crew were in London recently filming for the drama.

Written, produced, directed by and starring Aruna Irani, the series is set both in India and the UK. The series, which is currently under production for STAR Plus, is called Des Mein Nikla Hoga Chand. Centred around the complex lives of NRIs settled in London, it promises to be an enthralling, rollercoaster ride of emotions and family drama.

Veteran Bollywood actress Aruna Irani, who recently completed the first schedule of her new series in the UK, is thoroughly excited at the prospect of British audiences taking to her new serial which will be shown exclusively on STAR Plus. Filming in London recently, she said "I can't wait for the show to be completed and aired simultaneously in India and the UK. I'm very confident that the British Asian audience will love the family orientated drama."

The story revolves around the main protagonist Paminder played by Sangeeta Ghosh. 'Pammi' as she is affectionately known falls in love with Dev (Varun Bodola), a young boy from Chandigarh and proclaiming her deep love for him they plan to get married. However, Pammi's mother (Aruna Irani) strongly objects to her daughter's relationship and puts a stop to it. Pammi returns to England and desperately tries to deny her love for him by getting engaged to Rohan (Siddarth Dhavan) a respectable doctor from London. Meanwhile Dev pines for his lost love and comes to England in search of her. Will they ever meet again…? You'll have to tune in to this gripping series to find out.

"I am very happy with the way the show is developing," commented Aruna, "…and I have a very high standard to compete with, going by the quality of the shows that are already aired by STAR Plus. I'm hoping that the audience will learn to love the characters over time and feel part of the drama themselves…"

This exciting and much anticipated new drama serial is expected to be launched on STAR Plus later on this year. It promises to be a real, gritty family drama, which is bound to strike a chord with so many UK viewers.
