After all, the controversies surrounding Madhur Bhandarkar, his latest film Heroine, and the film's heroine Kareena Kapoor, Madhur and Kareena can now share a sigh of relief. From what we hear, industry insiders that have watched the film's first cut are in love with Kareena and the film.
First to praise the film was Madhur's contemporary and Kareena's good friend, director Karan Johar. And what better place to show one's affection than twitter, "Bebo is phenomenal in Heroine. She owns projects and understands the complexities of the protagonist to perfection," Karan wrote on the social networking site. He even went on to predict that the film would set the cash registers at the box office ringing, "Congratulations to Madhur in advance," Karan added.
Karan also heaped a lot of praise on fashion designer Manish Malhotra who has designed and styled Kareena's look in the film, "Manish Malhotra proves time and again that he is a designer veteran! Check out the super chic look that he has created in Heroine...Awesome," tweeted Karan.
Actor Tusshar Kapoor also took to twitter to praise Kareena, with whom he has worked in films such as Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai and the Golmaal series. "Just saw Heroine, a very well made intense journey of a movie star and Kareena proves yet again that she is a powerhouse performer."
The movie also features Arjun Rampal, Randeep Hooda and Divya Dutta. Divya, who has starred in critically acclaimed films such as Train to Pakistan, only had praises for her co-star who she says is one of the highlights of the film. "Just watched Heroine and I am overwhelmed shaken and moved by the hard hitting film," Divya wrote on twitter. Giving due credit to Madhur, Divya tweeted that Madhur had taken a very controversial subject and had done immense justice to it; "He has woven magic and handled such a tough subject with sensitivity. Kareena is excellent in the film and I am so proud to be a part of this one." Divya further added that there could not have been a "better portrayal" of the Hindi film industry than Madhur's Heroine.
Heroine features Kareena as Mahi Arora, an actress, and the movie narrates the difficulties in Mahi's life and career. The actress had earlier said it is her bravest role ever, and no wonder, expectations from the film are high.
Madhur had offered Kareena the lead role in Heroine in early 2009, but the actress turned it down because she felt it was too controversial. Madhur then signed Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, for the role of Mahi. Aishwarya had also shot for a few days, but she was let go from the project when she announced her pregnancy. By this time, Kareena had changed her mind and decided to return to the project! But looks like it all worked out in favor of the Heroine; do you think Ash will watch this movie? We think, she will probably skip this one out!
Heroine release on Friday, September 21 on Kareena's birthday, here is wishing the actress a very Happy Birthday!
