To be married to someone who lives in the spotlight requires a lot of patience and understanding. To be married to an actor who falls in love time and time again on-screen requires even more. Farah Khan, director turned actor, is in the position where her husband, Shirish Kunder, is not ready to watch her acting debut in Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi because of her chemistry with her co-star Boman Irani.

Farah told reporters, "Shirish, of course, encouraged me a lot, but I don't know whether he is ready to see the movie because he is not one of the husbands who would enjoy watching his wife holding hands with someone else. So I am not pushing him for it [watching the film]."

"When they (the filmmakers) approached me, I thought it was for a dance sequence, but I was stunned to hear that they wanted me for the female lead," Farah recalls. "I almost rejected the offer, but Shirish said if I did it well, it would be another feather in my cap."

Her triplets also had similar reactions. Farah shares, "My kids are too young (4 years old), but my son didn't like watching me wearing a skirt and dancing around. He couldn't handle it. He used to say 'Yeh mumma nahi chahiye' (I don't want this mother)."

Discussing her character, Farah said she was out of her element. "To look like Shirin was not my comfort zone. Wearing Parsi ladies' clothes... I was at the fattest for that movie and nobody asked me to lose weight. I just said I will tell people I was asked to put on weight for the role, but that is not true." Farah also adds, "Shirin is a very emotional person, and I was wondering if I could pull that off. I had to channel some deep, pent-up emotion."

Out of her element in job position, role, and mixed reactions from her family, Farah Khan plowed through it all and has created quite a unique film with Boman Irani. Does the mature love story entice you?
