Known for his daredevilry, Akshay Kumar has been the perfect host for four seasons of the hit TV show Khatron Ke Khiladi. However, reports suggest that Akshay is giving up his hosting duties because he wants to be around when wife Twinkle delivers their second child. Reportedly, Ajay Devgn will now step into Akshay's shoes.

While, Colours, the TV channel that telecasts Khatron Ke Khiladi refused to issue an official statement yet, sources tell Desiclub that Akshay decided to turn down the show because the shooting of Khatron Ke Khiladi keeps him away for long hours and Twinkle is due to deliver around the same time that the TV show goes on floors.

Ajay, on the other hand, confirmed that he was approached to host Khatron Ke Khiladi, "Yes, I am in talks to host Khatron Ke Khiladi. I would love to be a part of it if things work out," says Ajay. His last tryst with TV was as a judge of the 2008 dance reality show, Rock N Roll Family, along with wife Kajol and mother-in-law Tanuja. The show did not do well and only received a lukewarm response from viewers.

Akshay Kumar, 44, has been a constant factor with Khatron Ke Khiladi that sees 13 celebrity contestants perform deadly stunts. He hosted the first two seasons of the show and then returned for the fourth, after actor Priyanka Chopra, who replaced him in the third season, failed to leave an impact.

The news comes at a time when Akshay is riding high on the success of his latest film Rowdy Rathore, which only increased Akshay's popularity as an action star. Meanwhile, previous participants of the show rue that not having Akshay as the host could affect the show's popularity. Former actress and a participant on Bigg Boss and Khatron Ke Khiladi, Pooja Bedi says, "Akshay and Khatron Ke Khiladi are synonymous with each other. People love his style and energy as the host," while popular TV actress Aashka Goradia, who was on season 4, adds, "There cannot be Khatron Ke Khiladi without Akshay. It's incredible how he motivates contestants."

Looks like Ajay has huge expectations to live up to, but since Ajay also began his career as an action star we are sure Khatron Ke Khiladi will not be that challenging for him.
