June 26, It's Shreya Ghoshal Day in Ohio!
Today is Shreya Ghoshal Day! If you thought really, since when? Since Shreya's Summer 2010 Tour of the US. Confused? Read on to find out all the details.

June 26, It's Shreya Ghoshal Day in Ohio!

Popular singer Shreya Ghoshal now has an official day to honor her - June 26. Yes, we are not joking. When the petite singer visited Ohio as part of her 2012 Summer Tour, Shreya was given the rare honor by Governor Ted Strickland. Governor Strickland issued a proclamation declaring the day June 26 as Shreya Ghoshal Day.

As news of June 26 being Shreya Ghoshal Day, the singer's fans took to twitter and other social networking sites to declare their love for Shreya. "I am extremely honored and very overwhelmed right now. This is a moment I will never forget," said Shreya. She went on to add, "26th June became the Shreya Ghoshal day, and it is a big honor for me. I feel extremely touched." Shreya also became one of the top trending topics on twitter, an avid user of twitter herself Shreya later acknowledged her fans by tweeting, "honored, humbled and feeling totally loved. Thank you everyone."

Shreya's singing abilities were first noticed when as a child she won the children's episode of the popular singing show Sa Re Ga Ma (now Sa Re Ga Ma Pa). Music director Kalyanji of the Kalyan Anand du, who also judged the competition, convinced Shreya's parents to move to Mumbai so that Shreya could focus on her music. In 2000, Shreya caught the attention of director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, when she participated in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, but this time as an adult. Bhansali, who was then looking for a new voice for his film Devdas, offered Shreya the opportunity to be the voice of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's character Paro in the film. Shreya sung five songs in the film and won a National Award and two Filmfare Awards for her singing in the film among other awards and accolades.

Today, Shreya is one of the top singers of Bollywood and has come a long way from being a participant at musical shows. She has sung in numerous different languages, in 2010 she also sang for the English indie film When Harry Tries To Marry. She has also been a judge at popular singing contests such as the Star Voice Of India-Chhote Ustaad with singer Kunal Ganjawala and composer Pritam. Shreya was also one of the three judges in X Factor (India) with Sonu Nigam and Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Here's wishing Miss Ghoshal, what else but a Happy Shreya Ghoshal Day!
