A day after news broke out that veteran actor Rajesh Khanna's health was failing, Akshay Kumar, Khanna's son-in-law, has now come forth and said that Khanna is healthy. "He is more than fine. He is absolutely fine, thank you for your concern," Akshay told reporters who had gathered outside Khanna's house in suburban Mumbai.

Akshay's comments came after the 69-year-old veteran actor's manager Ashwin told an Indian news agency that the actor was very unwell and had stopped food intake for the "last three or four days."

Akshay later also tweeted, "All those spreading rumors, a humble request, get your facts right before reporting. In addition, for those genuinely concerned and inquiring about my father-in-law's health, he is doing fine now and on the road to recovery. Thank you for your good wishes."

No sooner had the news of Khanna's illness spread worried fans lined up outside his house. Khanna who is often referred to as India's first superstar, appeared in the balcony of his house and happily obliged by waving to his fans and flashed the V for victory sign.

With a heavily bearded look, Khanna appeared weak, but seemed to be in high spirits as he sported the same smile, which in his heydays made millions of his female fans' hearts skip a beat.

Khanna was accompanied by his estranged wife and actress Dimple Kapadia, who takes regular care of him nowadays, as well as Akshay, who is married to Khanna's older daughter Twinkle Khanna. While Twinkle is expecting her second baby, her younger sister Rinke has flown down to Mumbai to be with her ailing father.

Both Twinkle and Rinke tried their hands at acting, while Rinke discontinued acting after tying the knot with a businessman, Twinkle has now quit acting for interior designing and has won numerous awards for the same.

Khanna began his career with Aakhri Khat in 1966 and became a popular name with his work in films such as Raaz, Do Raaste and Aradhana. He was soon crowned with the tag of a "superstar," after he delivered 15 consecutive solo super hits. Known primarily as a romantic actor, Khanna formed a hit on-screen pair with numerous actress, namely Asha Parekh, Sharmila Tagore, Mumtaz and Rakhee among others.

In April of this year Khanna was admitted to a hospital due to a brief health scare. He recently featured in a TV commercial for Havell's fan.
