Sushmita Sen is waiting with bated breath for all her films to release but she feels her films don't really determine the course of her career - though a hit is always welcome. Living life on her own, Sushmita believes in making her own path. With her darling daughter Renee and her boyfriend Randeep Hooda, Sushmita feels the variety of films is the soul of the actress in her.
Rajesh Shah: Where have you disappeared to?
Sushmita Sen: I was out of action for four weeks a few months ago due to my cervical injury. Moreover I wasn't around but even otherwise I wouldn't have been in the news if not for my films. I don't like being talked about or written about for no reason.
RS: You have had Samay and three other films of yours are ready for release.
SS: Well Samay was a wonderful experience as I was the hero and the heroine of the film. I was thrilled to be offered such a powerful role. The character, like a Hollywood film wasn't written for a male or woman in mind. In my entire career I have never had any role more powerful than this. Yet it didn't do that well, which is fine with me, I made my point that I can play such a role. And other films coming at the same time is because few delays have clubbed the releases.
"Though I consider Manisha a friend, I don't do professional favours for my friends."
RS: Tell us about the remake of Astitva - It Was Raining That Day?
SS: It Was Raining That Day is a remarkable film. Shooting for the film has been marvelous. There are major changes in the projection of the story, though it is a remake. Mahesh Manjrekar plays the role of my character Aditi's husband. He has juggled the role of a director and actor just fine. It is inevitable that I would be compared to Tabu but it's good for her and me. How else would you know how I performed? Either way both of us have performed the role in two different ways.
RS: Shahrukh's Farah Khan directorial Main Hoon Na is another film in your kitty.
SS: Farah Khan has handled the responsibilities of a director very well. She is cool and always knows what she wants. We get along really well and we are attuned to each other. I am quite excited about working with Shahrukh. I think both of us look great together and will light fire on screen. I play a chemistry teacher, as it is a story set on a campus. But I can't divulge anymore about the story.
RS: Manisha's Paisa Vasool seems like a fun film.
SS: Yeah it's a comedy wherein two girls blackmail people and then fall into trouble. In Paisa Vasool my role is totally rocking. I signed the film firstly for the role and the film. Though I consider Manisha a friend, I don't do professional favours for my friends if it doesn't turn out beneficial for me.
