Most people believe in “Freewill’. As per them, freewill is our ability to choose. We can control our own destiny by what we choose to do. I am somehow sceptical about it for reasons, which I am not so sure of. At times, I wonder, whether life, is preordained. I wonder whether we are destined to make the choices and go through its consequences. You know people believe in determinism. It is one way to look at life. Determinism says that life is predetermined, before we are even born, as every action and decision is caused by an event, which occurred earlier. And the earlier event was also caused by something else; hence all events are considered to be related to each other and can be traced to the start of the universe itself. I am not sure whether I have absolute faith in Deterministic principles; as it is difficult to buy into their belief that all events can be traced to the origin (start of universe). But I do believe that most of our actions and decisions are based upon or caused by some event or the other. Plus, we need to face the consequence for it – whether it was a good decision or bad. So, I guess it is enough to say that I believe we do have freewill. We can make our own choices but they are often caused by something. Or maybe, I am just scared to think that we don’t really have a say in our own lives. That no matter what we really want to do, our destiny would lead us in a different path!
