Vinay Chakravarthy grew up in Fremont, California and attended UC Berkeley before moving on to get Masters and MD degrees from Boston University. He was married in 2005 to Rashmi, an aspiring physician from Los Angeles, California. They lived in Boston since the wedding, where Vinay was a resident in orthopedics at Boston Medical Center. Vinay was known amongst his family and friends as being a kind, honest and loving human being. Vinay was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia and had been searching for a donor ever since.

Unfortunately, Vinay passed away on June 25th, 2008 but not without inspiring countless people around the world.
